Larapinta Primary School opened in January 1998 with the official opening ceremony held on Monday 31st August 1998.
The first stage of the school was built in 1997. Increased numbers have meant four portable classroom blocks have since been added. A new Arts Centre made available through the Building the Education Revolution opened in 2010.
Ellen Varley was the founding principal and led the school from 1998 to 2006. Stewart Moyses then took on the principal role from 2004 until 2010. Brenda Jolley, the current principal took up the position in 2011.
